When I was in Mexico there’s a popular saying “mañana,” which translates to “tomorrow”. If you ask someone for something the usual response would be mañana. Here in Kitwe, a lot of people say “I’ll see tomorrow.” So when it comes to getting things accomplished, I noticed that initiative was the only way things were going to get done.

My schedule.
6am-6:40: Wake up and make breakfast.
6:40-7:30: Walk to school
7:30am - 5:00 pm: Teach.
5:00- 5:45- Walk home.
5:45 -6:00: Eat a small snack.
6:00- 7:00: Go to the (home made) gym.
7:30- 7:45: Cold shower since there is no hot water.
7:45 - 9:00: Cook and eat dinner or go to my second family’s house for dinner.
9:00- 9:30: Clean up

YMCA Zambia. She was such a patient teacher. You know in Dancing with the stars how the actual dancer makes other person look decent? Well this is exactly what happened here!!

This was a different experience from teaching my grade nine and eights. It was a bit difficult to communicate with them but they made up for it in awesomeness!!

I teach grade 8 and 9 science, English and math. However, it is the first year that they have added grade nine into their school. In order for the pupils to get into other high schools that have grades beyond grade 9, they need to pass the grade 9 exams. I decided to focus mainly on the grade nines to increase their chances of passing.
My challenge: quite a few of the children in grades 8 and 9...

My gym! A friend lets me use his home made gym beside my house! I get home at 6 pm and go straight here. I’d go to the gym in town but it’s sooo far. So this will do!!
